General Terms and Conditions

  • 48 hours’ notice must be given for cancellations. No charge will be made, for the session outside of this time. 
  • If you cancel within 48 hours notice, or do not attend for your appointment at all, the full normal fee is payable. Until payment is received, no further sessions can go ahead. You must pay for all missed sessions at the start of the first session back. This also applies to holidays; please remember to cancel your sessions at least 48 hours in advance when you are unavailable.
  • Where a room has been booked, or an animal has been arranged for AAI, then a room charge or AAI cost charge may still be payable.
  • The booked sessions last for 50 minutes and this is your time slot. Times can only be changed subject to availability and with at least 48 hours’ notice. 
  • If you are late, the session cannot end later than planned, but the remainder of your session can be taken if you arrive within 20 minutes of the session start time. After 20 minutes, the session will be cancelled and the full charge remains payable. 
  • Sessions which fall on a bank holiday will be rearranged through discussion in session and moved to a mutually acceptable alternative time. If you choose not to rearrange your session that week then the full fee is payable for the session unless 48 hours’ notice is given.
  • I may take up to five weeks’ holiday per year and when your session would fall during one of these weeks, it will not go ahead and no charge will be made. I will give at least 48 hours' notice.
  • Receipts/invoices can be issued on request but for environmental reasons they will not be produced unless requested. 
  • Payment by a third party can be arranged with a purchase order and authorisation letter from the third party concerned. The full fee is payable in advance on a monthly basis.
  • Any complaint or issue should first be brought to my attention and I will do my utmost to resolve it with you. If this is unsuccessful I will take it to my supervisor for consultation. If after this point you still feel aggrieved in some way, please contact the BACP, which is the governing body of which I am a member. You can find them at www.bacp.co.uk

AAI / AAT

Animal Assisted Intervention/Therapy - This is priced individually following assessment.  A risk assessment will be carried out in every case and charges vary according to the intervention planned. Cancellation after confirmed booking for AAI will have an individual agreement and this will be made clear at assessment. This activity is chargeable in advance in full.



Additional Terms and Conditions for  AAI/AAT


  • The client will commit to the well being of the animal by; at all times following the requests and or instructions of either the animal handler or therapist.
  • The type of animal, specific choice of individual animal, and format of the session will be managed by the therapist who may stop the intervention at any time in the interest of health and safety or the well being of the animal. The therapist will remove the animal at the request of the client also.
  • For some animals AAI/AAT will need to take a bespoke format and this may involve the presence of an animal handler throughout the process.
  • All attendees are subject to the confidentiality agreement and are separately insured in addition to insurance held by Lathey Counselling.
  • A risk assessment will be done prior to any AAI. This risk assessment will be signed by all parties concerned. This will be done by the therapist in conjunction with the animal handler but will remain the ultimate responsibility of the therapist throughout the active AAI.
  • Outcome goals will be clearly discussed and agreed with all parties.
  • It is the responsibility of the client to disclose all and any relevant information relating to allergies, strength mental or physical, mobility issues and or phobias etc. which may determine a certain animal as not suitable.
